“Just been on the phone tonight to another detainee on Christmas Island. He’s been on the Island 3 months. He’s been in isolation all that time, locked up 23 hours a day. He was released into mainstream today. He was the one guy the Detention Centre refused to let me see last Friday. After hearing his story I can understand why.

The ERT (riot squad) stormed his cell some time back, threw him on the floor, zip tied his hands, lay a riot shield on him, twisting his legs to immobilise him, but went beyond what was necessary and snapped a ligament in his leg while they pummelled him.

When he finally got to see a doctor, he was given a medical certificate to say his ligament was snapped and he needed surgery. The ERT raided…

Russia May Be Planning To Cut Internet Cables Under Sea, US Intelligence Shows Concern

http://www.stripes.com/news/europe/re…

U.S. military officials are growing increasingly concerned that Russia may be scouting for weak spots in the underwater cables the U.S. relies on for global communications and commerce, The New York Times reported.

American military and intelligence officials told the Times that Moscow might be planning to attack those lines in times of tension or conflict.

The NY Times reports that the presence of Russian ships near important, undersea internet cables is raising concern with U.S. military and intelligence officials. From the article: “The issue goes beyond old Cold War worries that the Russians would tap into the cables — a task American intelligence agencies also mastered decades ago. The alarm today is deeper: The ultimate Russian hack on the United States could involve severing the fiber-optic cables at some of their hardest-to-access locations to halt the instant communications on which the West’s governments, economies and citizens have grown dependent.

Bizarre Chinese Euro 2012 advert predicting fall of Europe?

Firstly, many thanks to Ian for discovering this bizarre video. It’s supposedly an advert for a Chinese pay TV company called NOW TV (looks like NWO) to promote their coverage of the Euro 2012 Football (see soccer) tournament. It is an adaption of an old Russian patriotic song called Farewell of Slavianka. But for some reason, it has been adapted by a Hong Kong music producer Damon Chui from Zoo Music and the video is OUT OF THIS WORLD!! It shows a soccer game between two teams. One Asiatic looking team wearing Light Blue and Gold perhaps representing Ukraine and the other wearing black and ominous looking with red-demon eyes. But the backdrop shows war in Europe with images of London, Paris, Rome and others being bombed and shelled. This continues through the whole video with eventually the battle and soldiers spilling onto the pitch.

There is heaps of hidden symbolism and the whole concept is very creepy. Rather than me rabbit on, have a watch for yourself and share your thoughts below.

I’ve tried to find a translation of the lyrics and I think I managed to find the original here. I used translate-google so no responsibility for the translation, but if it’s anywhere near correct, it’s pretty disturbing for a soccer commercial.

Translation

Blasts of flame forehead blood flow
The crowd toward the front enemy people
Cracked earth are the kingdom quick makeover
I can make a name written on the back
Beat to death to win this war he is
Grab rapids break cliff yesterday
Gordon peak win heaven but unfinished
Continue to attack someone will appear
Why, then abstained in the ring
Half-seriously injured parachutist
Executioner enemy too good welcome
Like the man in the iron dump
Locker room team are weak to strong
# Came time to decide
The Khan continues to flow
Li won the hearts opponents
Who is to be an epoch-making against his comrades
Repeat *
Emergency vehicles into the second half full of oil
Tanks endure ten gun when revenge
When the Jets have about spying
Talk talk Zhenshi force has left the organization
Repeat # *
Nushe the flame forehead blood flow
The crowd toward the front enemy people
Cracked earth are the kingdom quick makeover
I can make a name written on the back
Nushe the flame forehead blood flow
Crowd of people before riding the enemy again
Cracked earth are broken at my feet
Make it from the name written in front of you
Beat to death to win this war he is

Here is a version of the original, sung by the Red Army Choir

Looking forward to hearing everyone’s interpretation of this video.

Fiji seeks UN Human Rights Council seat – would need to clean up their own backyard first…

Fiji has joined Australia in bidding for membership of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Fiji’s prime minister Frank Bainimarama has told the UN General Assembly that Fiji will continue to champion the cause of the Pacific Islands Developing States, if elected to the Council.

He says Fiji has a unique perspective of the world to share with the international human rights community, highlighting the detrimental effects of climate change.

Mr Bainimarama says it is not acceptable for advanced economies to build a high standard of living on the degradation of the earth and the seas.

Australia has also made a bid for Council membership from 2018 to 2020.

Its foreign minister, Julie Bishop, says Australia is an international leader in advancing the rights of women and girls, strengthening governance and democratic institutions, and promoting freedom of expression.

However, Canberra has been at loggerheads with UN agencies for violating conventions it has signed up to, such as the jailing of asylum seeker children abroad.
